Are you looking for dependable early learning services? At Glengarry Child Care Society in Edmonton, our out-of-school care and early learning programs follow FLIGHT: Alberta’s Early Learning and Care Framework, which provides the basis for our program philosophy. Our 8800 square-foot early learning facility provides care for up to 117 children, ages birth to 12 years, in 6 playrooms that are separated by age. We believe children are mighty learners and citizens, fully capable of making choices and decisions about their environment and their play experiences, becoming aware of what their bodies can do and taking risks, all of which create the foundation for learning and growing up to be confident, capable adults. Our educators take on the role of co-learners, co-researchers and co-imaginers of possibilities, allowing the children to take the lead, and become part of the children’s play experience.
SNACKS AND LUNCH
We provide morning and afternoon snacks plus a hot lunch daily. Our cook makes meals that are healthy, home-cooked and delicious! We have 4 menus that rotate on a weekly basis and change in the spring and the fall to provide variety. As much as possible, we focus on making our menu items from scratch, using minimal pre-packaged foods.
Below is a sample menu:
SENIOR INFANT ROOM
Our senior infant room provides care for 8 children aged 12-18 months. The playroom has 4 large windows that let in lots of natural light. Two educators plan activities that include lots of sensory play as the children begin to explore the world around them. There is a bit more structure to the daily routine with scheduled lunch and sleep time while being flexible enough to meet the developmental needs of the children.
TODDLER ROOM
Our toddler room provides care for 18 children aged 19-35 months in a large, open playroom with windows for lots of natural light. Three educators ensure that the children’s program has many opportunities for the children to begin testing out their independence.
JUNIOR PRESCHOOL ROOM
Our junior preschool room provides care for 24 children aged 2.5 - 3.5 years old. The playroom is bright and open with large windows for natural light. Activities provide opportunities for the children to use their imagination and creativity.
